Large email providers like Gmail are starting to insist on DKIM email signing as well as SPF. On our Windows hosting it is not possible to automatically setup DKIM email signing upon email domain creation and so you will need to create a DKIM key and add it to your DNS manually. Here are the steps to complete the process.
1. Login to SmarterMail as your domain administrator. (a domain administrator account is automatically created when you add a domain to your control panel but you can also assign the role to any other email account within your domain). Once you have logged into the account go to the domain settings page and you will see an Email Signing section.
You can leave settings at their defaults, just click enable. Because you don't yet have a DKIM DNS record, SmarterMails DNS check will fail and it will instead prompt you to add the DNS record, providing the name and value you need to add to DNS, first copy this data to a text file.
2. Next, login to SolidCP (Your hosting control panel) and browse to your domain area, click the domain name and choose "Edit DNS zone records" You should now click "Add Record" and change the record type to "TXT" Enter the Record Name you were provided by SmarterMail (it will look something like this "8DB38A86111B0EC._domainKey.yourdomain.com.") you only need to enter the part up to .yourdomain.com so in this case the name is "8DB38A86111B0EC._domainKey".
Here is where things might get a little "tricky". Because of DNS limitations you need to split the record you received into strings less then 255 characters long by adding " " in the middle (No need for a beginning or end quotes).. So
If this was your original stringp=MIIBIjANBgkqhkiG9w0BAQEFAAOCAQ8AMIIBCgKCAQEAvik2hxz9tTTWBvY94iY2bDDJohxF1mIzDCAQ8AMIIBCgKCAQENXocFHvoHFT0ywMN03AIvusCLFmbTsU+eoKGAtPHzSgbzC5xXlYIySbEij5ZHAgkVuNLUyRQ8V38b6KO9jXwLbvAYXRCg8bBHla+fno/N8ESxs52Zcn+n6p+9Vn6QBJK/PombCay1lfy8zIsrGiYdSy8fRzLT2cIrw6XRF4W80GHOCAQ8AMIIBCgKCAQEv6p8kpp2O0NFajDw2IyZHvkSjlqCZ5olKBpCCAQ8AMIIBCgKCAQEoo1sWsUm5M3//aBiReJ2rPy7wfVrCAQ8AMIIBC9fQUIIIIJHJmVzVwIDAQAB
It should now be (Note the "" about halfway through the string)
p=MIIBIjANBgkqhkiG9w0BAQEFAAOCAQ8AMIIBCgKCAQEAvik2hxz9tTTWBvY94iY2bDDJohxF1mIzDCAQ8AMIIBCgKCAQENXocFHvoHFT0ywMN03AIvusCLFmbTsU+eoKGAtPHzSgbzC5xXlYIySbEij5ZHAgkVuNLUyRQ8V38b6KO9jXwLbvAYXRCg8bBHla+fno/N8ESxs52Zcn+n6p+9Vn6QBJK/""PombCay1lfy8zIsrGiYdSy8fRzLT2cIrw6XRF4W80GHOCAQ8AMIIBCgKCAQEv6p8kpp2O0NFajDw2IyZHvkSjlqCZ5olKBpCCAQ8AMIIBCgKCAQEoo1sWsUm5M3//aBiReJ2rPy7wfVrCAQ8AMIIBC9fQUIIIIJHJmVzVwIDAQAB
Paste the whole string into the Record Data field and click Save. Your DNS should now be correctly configured.
Now wait about 10 minutes for DNS to propagate to all servers, return to SmarterMail and in the same place as before click "enable" again, all going well it should validate your new DNS record and enable DKIM signing for email sent from our mail server.
